About me

My name is Karlene. I am originally from the island of Jamaica located in the Caribbean. I am living in Cambridge, Massachusetts where we own our home for 43 years. I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and have worked with a diverse group of individuals from the ages of 5-99 years old. I greatly enjoy being a therapist. I am naturally nurturing. Helping and being there for others I found to being my ultimate purpose. Being a lawyer was my initial desire, but I wanted something more that would profoundly help those who are in need. I have been a host parent for 13 years this year, and a Supervisor/Coordinator for the Exchange programs I hosted for. I enjoy hosting, because for me it's a sense of giving back. I am also a product of an international individual living in America. I am very grateful for this country, and to be that person to give another an opportunity as I was given, is the most rewarding feeling. I have 3 children, who are now in their 20's. My daughter who is the youngest turned 20 she had graduated college last May 2022 in the field Biology. She is continuing with her studies within the medical field. My middle son who is 23 graduated college in 2020 in Biology, and is currently studying in the medical field, and my first son 26 graduated college in Criminology and is now a Clinical Psychologist. He currently works with children and adults. He reports, he enjoy being a Therapist as well. My mother who is now 76 years old, is now a retired Registered Nurse (RN), and she's now thinking of volunteering in a hospital. We'll see about that, because she have gotten used to not running around if she doesn't want to, so who knows :-) !!! Although we are a relaxed, nonchalant , quiet, not a fussy, and drama free family, we enjoy doing lots of fun and exciting things. Culture plays a huge role in the dynamics of how we are as a family and how we operate. I welcome you to "Google" Jamaicans/people of Jamaica/ or the culture. Our Motto is " Out Of Many One People" simply meaning our multiracial roots. We love to travel locally and abroad. We enjoy going to beaches and pools, dining out, movies, plays, Broadway live performances, going to sports games: such as, soccer matches, Basketball games, football games Etc. There's so many things we like and enjoy doing. If there is anything you would like to know that I did not mention here, please feel free to ask.
