I am a warm, welcoming, and community-oriented person who truly values creating a comfortable and supportive home environment. I work in early childhood education, where I support young children and families, so being patient, attentive, and understanding comes naturally to me. A big part of why I’m passionate about hosting comes from my own experience living abroad. I had the opportunity to live in Costa Rica as a student, where I stayed with a host family who made a lasting impact on me. They didn’t just provide a place to stay, they helped me learn how to navigate the city, included me in family gatherings, and truly made me feel at home. That experience shaped how I see cultural exchange and the importance of feeling safe, included, and supported in a new place. Because of that, I aim to offer the same kind of experience to my students. I enjoy creating a calm, respectful home while also making space for connection, whether that’s sharing meals, offering guidance about the area, or simply being available when needed. I also respect independence and understand that each student has their own comfort level and routine. My goal is for any student staying with me to feel secure, welcomed, and confident as they adjust to a new environment—just like I once did.

About the household

My home is a duplex located in the University City area of Philadelphia, with two separate two-bedroom, one-bath apartments. This unique setup allows students to enjoy both independence and a family-oriented experience. I live on the upper level and intentionally create opportunities for connection. Students are always welcome upstairs to relax in the living room, watch TV, and join me for family-style meals. I make an effort to create a warm and inclusive environment, similar to the experience I had when I lived abroad. I also like to make my guests feel at home in thoughtful ways, such as stocking their refrigerator with some of their favorite foods and treats. During the warmer months, we can also enjoy time together outside in the backyard, including occasional barbecues. At the same time, students will have their own private living space on a separate level, which includes a full kitchen, bathroom, dining area, and laundry. This gives them the flexibility to cook their own meals, maintain their own routine, and enjoy quiet time when needed. Overall, my home offers the best of both worlds—a welcoming, family-oriented environment with the option for privacy, independence, and comfort.

Please feel comfortable sharing your needs, schedule changes, or any concerns—you’re not just a guest, you’re part of the home. Clean & Comfortable Space I do my best to keep the home clean and inviting, and I ask that you help maintain that by keeping your space tidy and cleaning up after yourself in shared areas. Rest & Quiet Time We all have different schedules, so I ask for general quiet during late evening and early morning hours (10:00pm to 7:00am) to make sure everyone can rest comfortably. Meals & Connection You are always welcome to cook your own meals in your space, and you’re also invited to join me upstairs for occasional family-style meals. There’s no pressure—just an open invitation whenever you’d like to connect. Guests If you’d like to have a guest visit during the day, just let me know ahead of time. I’m happy to be flexible with communication. Safety Please lock doors when entering and leaving the home so we can all feel safe and secure.
