Hello! We are Soooooo excited to have you join our family ! We have been part of the cultural exchange program for over 18 years hosting 100's of exchange students of which they have (and) continue to be a part of our family to this day. We are excited to learn all about your likes, dislikes, your culture, your dreams, aspirations all the while creating fun memories and supporting you through what will be an incredible journey in your life! We are New Yorkers (born and raised) who recently adopted New Jersey (South Jersey) as our new home. I am a single mom with 4 amazing kids (2 adults) Rebecca, who still lives in NY and Christopher, who is Sgt in the Marines, currently overseas. My two teens, David who is 18 and Mariana who is 16 live with me in NJ. We come from a multi-cultural family, (Puerto Rican, Italian) that loves trying and learning new things while making the most out of every day. We love celebrating every holiday (Christmas is our favorite :-) We especially enjoy doing things as a family, volunteering, helping others in the community and exploring the surrounding towns. Our goal is to nurture, assist and encourage you in your journey. Most importantly, we want to thank you for choosing us to be a part of it !

About the household

I live in the beautiful town of Toms River, New Jersey in the Jersey Shore. My home is close to 1 acre of property. I have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I have a split level home with a full finished basement, fireplace, laundry room with a family room/game room on the lower level. The 2nd floor has a full dining room, living room, kitchen with an island and 3 bedrooms and bathroom and full deck. Outdoors we have an L shape inground pool, basketball hoop, fire pit and sitting area. We are 12 minutes from beautiful beaches, lakes and bays. We are minutes from Seaside Heights & Point Pleasant beaches & boardwalk where rides and concerts are constant, Ocean County Mall, Marque Theatre, Robert J. Novins Planetarium and The Grunin Center Performing Arts for theatre performances to speak of only a few attractions. Local activity's to do range from Urban Air, Adrenaline Sports Academy, climbing at Garden States Rocks, Escape Rooms and games and events at RWJ Barnabas Health Arena or Jersey Shore Roller Derby. There are an incredible number of diverse restaurants (652 and counting, lol) which we ourselves were surprisingly shocked, especially since we are New Yorkers and that was top on our list of must have's...lol. Needless to say, you will NEVER be bored here. I will say, although our NY roots keep us active in fun, we do enjoy hanging out as a family, watching movies, playing board games or just run down to our family room to play darts, "old school" Arcade video games (yes, I have the 80's kind) or play indoor basketball. Now that the chill is in the air we enjoy sitting in front of the fire pit and roast marshmallows or make smores. One fun-fact.....Toms River host the second-largest Halloween Parade (there were some years that we were the largest beating, NYC - Crazy!) AND it is celebrated twice, one day for trick-o-treaters and another day for the parade ! We hope you find some of these activities interesting ;-)

Host Family House Rules Welcome to our home! We want you to feel like part of the family. These rules are designed to help everyone live together comfortably and safely. 1. Communication & Schedule • Please keep us informed of your daily plans. • Let us know in advance if you will be late or not coming home. • Discuss any changes to your schedule ahead of time. • Communication is Key – We want you to feel like you can discuss anything and everything because you are important to us ! ________________________________________ 2. Respect for the Home • Treat our home and belongings with care and respect. • Keep your bedroom clean and tidy. • No food or drinks (other than water) should be left in your room. • Clean up after yourself in shared spaces (kitchen, bathroom, living room). ________________________________________ 3. Chores & Participation • Help with light household chores such as: o Clearing dishes o Helping with meals o Keeping your room clean • You are part of the family, so participation is expected. ________________________________________ 4. Guests & Visitors • Always ask permission before inviting friends over. • No overnight guests allowed. • Guests must respect our home and rules. ________________________________________ 5. Curfew • Weekdays: (school days) 9:30 pm • Weekends: 11 pm • Curfew may be adjusted for special occasions with permission. ________________________________________ 6. Technology Use • Use phones and internet responsibly. • Follow any limits on screen time, especially on school nights. • Be mindful of noise when using devices. ________________________________________ 7. Bathroom & Laundry • Keep the bathroom clean and dry after use. • Hang towels properly and clean up any mess. • Follow instructions for laundry and limit usage if requested. ________________________________________ 8. Meals • Join family meals when possible. • Inform us if you will miss a meal. • Try new foods and communicate any dietary needs. ________________________________________ 9. Safety & Behavior • No alcohol, drugs, or tobacco. • Follow all school and local laws. • Always let us know where you are and who you are with. ________________________________________ 10.
